It is abundantly clear to me that God is raising up His ekklesia in this season. The events of the past few months have served as a catalyst for revealing true motivations and passions. From attempted assassinations to political turmoil, racial tensions, and economic instability, our world is teetering on a global conflagration and societal collapse. However, I confidently assert that it is high time for action. The mere discussion of the ekklesia is no longer sufficient. The time for action is now. What we need are active, tangible demonstrations that will have a transformative impact on our world just as it did in the First Century.
Where do we begin?
In conversations I’ve had with fellow believers in recent weeks, certain questions about the nature of house gatherings (Simple “Organic” Church) have been at the forefront of these discussions. Here are four common questions.
1. Are these gatherings simply a free-for-all?
2. Are they lacking any form of oversight or structure?
3. Who should truly be in charge?
4. Are we emphasizing house gatherings over all other forms of gatherings?
As I have explored scripture, and analyzed these queries, I have arrived at some clear conclusions. Rest assured that my insights are rooted in scripture. In my upcoming Substack posts, I will present my findings to shed light on the essential principles that should guide the structure and leadership of our gatherings.
To understand my conclusions, you will need to first understand the context of my teachings. I have clear biblical principles that guide me. They are based on my belief that God had a singular purpose for mankind. Ephesians3:10-11 says:
“...to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the [ekklesia] to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord”
The expression of God’s wisdom will be manifested through Jesus Christ by a called-out kingdom citizenry. This was the divine intent when man was created (Genesis 1:26-28). Jesus, who was there at creation, culminated His earthly work by telling His followers that they would be empowered to fulfill His commands (Matthew 28:18:20; Luke 10:19; Acts 1:8).
From the beginning, God always intended that mankind would represent the Kingdom of Heaven on the earth. You cannot understand the value and importance of the gathering of believers outside of this context. Gatherings should evolve to be more than simple kum-by-yah events where we share cookies and milk, sing a few songs and go home. Gatherings have purpose and design that drive what takes place when believers meet.
In future posts, I will provide you with an outline of the Acts 2:42 pattern. This biblical framework serves as a guide for believers to shape their gatherings and navigate their spiritual journeys. The Acts 2:42 Pattern brings the necessary context to answer the questions that began this email. I will share further insights with you in the upcoming posts. Get ready to embark on a transformative journey as we explore the importance of this pattern together.
