Shows you what they know!
Any American would tell you that pistol is laying on the wrong side. If you're going to place a pistol to the right of your main entree, the pistol should be lain on it's left side with both the handle and the barrel of the gun facing outward. That way a right handed breakfast eater/shooter can pick it up quickly and cleanly without having to fumble for it.
The way displayed here, they would either have to try and slip their fingers under the handle in order to pick it up or reach over with their left hand to do it. Making matters worse, they might spill their coffee either before or in the actual process of shooting an intruder. You'd place it the exact same way again for either brunch, lunch and/or dinner.
Now left handed shooters have two options. Either they can tell the waitstaff ahead of time to reverse their setting or they could choose to sit to the right of someone who is a non-shooter whose table setting is jacked up like this one is. Admittedly, the latter could be an advantage if you're one of those who is slow on the draw and the bad guys are familiar with proper American Table Etiquette and mistake the non-gun-enthusiast on your left for an experienced shooter.
The main idea is to be able to quickly and cleanly ruin the bad guy's dining experience, not your own. And them damn foreigners complain about how American's are lacking in general knowledge pertaining to simple table manners and etiquette! Seriously, you can't make this $#!† up!
I'm so glad you answered with the response you gave. It took me a few seconds to process my thoughts and reconcile my cognitive dissonance upon viewing the photo. It was so wrong. Then you set my heart to peace by eloquently articulating all the flood of thoughts i had a moment ago. Thank you for making the world a better place.
